Self skin examination are very critical. The reasons are
- Most melanomas appear in areas there were no pre-existing moles.
- Nodular Melanomas have an aggressive growth pattern, they grow about 0.49mm depth per month (compared to superificial spreading melanomas which grow at 0.12mm depth per month). So picking up a changing mole is vital to survival.
